John Elkington, Executive Chairman, Volans
John is a world authority on corporate responsibility and sustainable development and is credited with coining the ‘triple bottom line’. In 2004, BusinessWeek described John as “a dean of the corporate responsibility movement for three decades”.
John serves on some 30 boards and advisory boards, where a key part of his role is to channel the future into the present across a wide range of disciplines. He is writing his 19th book alongside Jochen Zeitz, former CEO of PUMA and now co-chair, with Sir Richard Branson, of The B Team. The book is titled The Breakthrough Challenge: 10 Ways to Connect Today’s Profits with Tomrrow’s Bottom Line. The book will come full circle from John’s 1997 Cannibals with Forks where he first introduced the Triple Bottom Line concept.

Julia Groves, Managing Director, Trillion Fund
Julia is Managing Director of Trillion Fund, a crowdfunding platform aimed at engaging the masses in renewable energy – through their pockets. Their goal is to maximise the number of people who have a financial stake in the UK’s energy future and she is a strong advocate for the ‘60,000 not six’ energy companies campaign.
Prior to starting Trillion Fund she worked for eight years in the wind and solar industries and only joined the world of finance when the traditional sources of investment for smaller scale construction dried up.
Julia is also the founding Chair of the UK Crowdfunding
Association, and a Director at Move Your Money, and is actively lobbying for changes to financial regulations to allow everyone the option to invest in sectors, businesses and people that they know or love.
Julia is herself an Investor in a number of early stage businesses, mostly in the cleantech sector. She founded britishairways.com.
André Schneider, VP, EPFL (Ecole Polytechnique Fédérale de Lausanne)
André Schneider, after having been a professional musician in major classical orchestras, developed his first experiences when IBM decided to go into services and asked him to create an IT consulting practice in Geneva, working throughout Europe; he then expanded his experience joining the World Economic Forum and was instrumental during his 12 years in creating the world’s leading global multi-stakeholder platform and finally globalizing this concept by expanding it around the world, with special emphasis on China and the Middle East. With his advisory, André has been quickly developing projects and thought leadership in many important issues around sustainable development, like renewable energies, sustainable competitiveness, sustainable mobility, sustainable infrastructure grading and financing and social banking. On August 1, 2013, André has joined EPFL, as Vice-President for Planning and Logistics. André is also the chairman of World Climate Ltd, the world’s leading media and events platform to accelerate the development of the global green economy; Chairman of equal-salary, providing a certification of equal compensation for women and men; and Vice-Chairman of Global Infrastructure Basel, the sustainable infrastructure forum and summit.
Aleyn Smith-Gillespie, Carbon Trust
Aleyn has 14 years’ experience advising global blue chip companies and organisations. His work focuses on issues at the intersection of business strategy, operational efficiency, innovation, and sustainability. His sector experience includes FMCG, ICT, financial services, retail, and energy. Prior to Carbon Trust, Aleyn worked for strategy consultants Booz & Co. He holds a BA from Cambridge University, and a double Master’s degree from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology.
Alexandra Leclerc, Associate Director, Starwood Hotels
Alexandra is responsible for Starwood Hotels & Resorts EAME’s sustainability efforts supporting the company’s nine brands including Westin, Sheraton, W, Le Méridien, St. Regis, Four Points by Sheraton, Aloft, Element and Luxury Collection. In this role, she manages and supports the development, implementation and reporting of strategic programs, policies, and communication; including 30/20 by 20 which is Starwood’s aggressive goal of 30 percent reduction in energy consumption and 20 percent reduction in water consumption per built room by 2020 for all owned, managed and franchised hotels globally.
